In this video i attempt to open a patio door that has got stuck locked. A door that s stuck or difficult to slide according to this old house debris build up is the main reason for a sliding door that refuses to glide. The first step is to check the rollers. These rollers can become damaged dirty or broken as the years go by and cause your door to stick.

Two screws on the end of the door secure the latch. The trick once you get the door open is to re align the sliding panel and the door frame. Most of the time the problem stems from dirty and dried up rollers. Fix a sliding glass door that won t lock or latch easy fix. Remove these two screws and gently pull out the latch mechanism and its cartridge. Dirt mud hair and fur can collect along the track and in the groove which clogs the rollers underneath and prevents smooth motion.

The lock in the frame seems jammed and isn t fully unlocking the door. Do not spray any penetrating lubricant into any part of the sliding door lock if the lock continues to stick.
