Sliding door lock stuck.
In this video i attempt to open a patio door that has got stuck locked.
A door that s stuck or difficult to slide according to this old house debris build up is the main reason for a sliding door that refuses to glide.
The first step is to check the rollers.
These rollers can become damaged dirty or broken as the years go by and cause your door to stick.
Two screws on the end of the door secure the latch.
The trick once you get the door open is to re align the sliding panel and the door frame.
To fix this remove your door from the tracks clean out the rollers and spray them with a lubricant such as wd 40.

Most of the time the problem stems from dirty and dried up rollers.
Fix a sliding glass door that won t lock or latch easy fix.
Remove these two screws and gently pull out the latch mechanism and its cartridge.
Dirt mud hair and fur can collect along the track and in the groove which clogs the rollers underneath and prevents smooth motion.
The lock in the frame seems jammed and isn t fully unlocking the door.
Do not spray any penetrating lubricant into any part of the sliding door lock if the lock continues to stick.
Here s how you can clean the rollers and the track.
I then tried opening sliding the door and the door will not budge.
These may need replacing but at the very least they could probably use adjusting.
I ve tried locking and unlocking multiple times and the door will not move.
However today when i tried unlocking my patio sliding door the unlock sound was slightly different than normal.
Step 4 finding a replacement.
The mechanics of the lock have broken leaving the top section of the door completely.
Sliding doors move along the tracks using a set of rollers.
If you live in a windy area place a heavy object against the door or use tape to keep it from opening up after you ve removed the lock.
